I’m going to write a more substantial analysis of my Javascript/Rails Portfolio Project at a later time, but right now I just felt I needed to explore what it was like to write an application while living in the epicenter of a global pandemic.
My name is Tom, and I am an online self-paced student.
While I was working on my Sinatra portfolio project for Flatiron, I found myself writing some of the same lines of code over and over. I didn’t really see anyway to avoid this and, frankly, was just glad things were working and I was moving forward. When I had my project assessment, my review coach suggested refactoring some of my code into a helper method.
“This app should be a custom app that is created to track something important to you.”
